Abdul-Ilah Al-Maliki, the Saudi national team midfielder, confirmed that facing teams such as Albania and Macedonia is difficult, strong and not easy, noting that the goal of the friendlies is "friction and raising fitness, not the result."
Al-Maliki said, in a statement to the Saudi SSC channel: "35 days is a very long camp, but after our meeting with coach Herve Renard and his explanation of the camp program, we found it useful for all players and in accurate details, and we hope to achieve the maximum possible benefit."
He added, "We spent the first 5 days and played a match, and Renard wanted us to take advantage of the camp's matches physically and mentally in a more and more important way than the result."
He continued: "All the players have achieved the goals required of them in all the exercises and matches, and we are looking forward to the friction more than the result. However, our results were good in the first two matches against Macedonia and Albania."
He concluded: "Facing teams like Albania and Macedonia is difficult, strong, and not easy, and we benefited a lot from them. Our goal in friendly matches is friction and raising fitness, not the result."
