Germany coach Martina Voss Tecklenburg believes that the "dream" of the Euro 2022 final between England and Germany, tomorrow, Sunday, provides the necessary platform to take women's football to the next level.
Germany won the European Women's Nations Cup 8 times before, in a record, while England have never won the title.
With tickets sold out and record-breaking TV viewing expected, Voss Tecklenburg sees the match as an ideal opportunity to increase the game's popularity even further.
"Women's football will only win if everything that happens to Germany and England in Europe ends in a sustainable way," the Germany coach said.
She added: "Something has to go on. It should be an opportunity for all countries to reach the next steps in women's football. If it doesn't happen now, when will it happen?"
Germany defeated England (6-2) in the final of the 2009 edition of the European Women's Championship, and Vos Tecklenburg said in this regard: "This ignites the enthusiasm of the fans, and for me it is one football, I do not differentiate between men's and women's football."
"There will be millions of fans all over Europe. If we could dream, we would want to play England in this final, not any other team."
