In the previous eight confrontations, the Congolese team favored its record with 4 victories, while the Sudan team won one match and tied twice.

3 games at once

The two teams played 3 matches at once, in the 1968 African Cup of Nations qualifiers, in which the Congolese team ousted Sudan from the qualifiers and reached the finals, and even achieved its first title in the history of the tournament.

The Sudan national football team played the African Nations Cup qualifiers in Group F, which included the Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania and Mauritius.

The matches were played with each team facing each other in only two matches as a first stage, then qualifying for a final second stage, in which the winners meet in two play-off matches, after which the winning team qualifies for the total of the two matches.

Sudan lost on March 18, 1967, against the Democratic Republic of the Congo, "Zaire at that time", with a score of (2/3), and returned to win in Sudan on April 2, 1967 (1/0), to tie the two teams in the total of the two matches (3/3). And they played a third play-off match in the Ugandan capital Kampala on August 13, when the Congolese team won 2-1, and then knocked out Tanzania from the same group in the last stage with two play-off matches and qualified for the finals of Ethiopia.

African Nations Cup

The two Sudanese-Congolese teams faced each other twice in the finals of the African Nations Cup, the first in Cameroon 1972, where they played in the second group, which included Morocco and the Republic of the Congo on their side, and they drew (1-1).

In 1976, in the finals of the African Nations Cup in Ethiopia and within the second group in the city of Dredawa, Sudan and Congo “Zaire” also tied (1-1), and the legend Ali Qagrin advanced with the first goal for Sudan, and the Congolese legend Mulamba tied the Congo.

Friendlies

The Sudanese and Congolese teams met in 3 friendly matches, and the Congolese team won all of them, with a score of (3/0), in June 1970, and in March 2003 with a score of 1/0, and finally in the only version organized by the CECAFA-Basin Championship The Nile in Egypt, “a friendly tournament for the Nile Basin countries” in January 2011 with a result of (1/2).
