The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced today, Tuesday, the classification of the teams participating in the qualifiers for the 2023 African Nations Cup, which will be held in Côte d'Ivoire.
The previous edition was held in Cameroon after being postponed for a year due to the Corona pandemic, and the Senegal team crowned it at the expense of Egypt last February.
CAF clarified that the qualifiers will be held in 12 groups, each comprising 4 teams, with the first and second in each of them qualifying for the finals.
He also indicated that the suspension imposed on Kenya and Zimbabwe if it did not expire two weeks before the start of the qualifiers, considers the two teams to have withdrawn, and the group of each of them becomes only 3 teams.
CAF stated that Kenya and Zimbabwe will not be placed in one group to avoid having only two teams in the group if the ban continues on the two teams.
