Google prepares Google Play Games, to bring Android games to the PC

Google is considering bringing some of the games available on Android phones to Windows PCs. To this end, it is developing the Google Play Games app, which will be available throughout the year 2022. Using this application, users will be able to play the games available there on laptops, tablets and desktop computers.

The intention of the company with this launch is to facilitate that users can play their video games from different devices and in different environments. Until now, these games were accessible from tablets, mobile phones, and Chromebook laptops. The idea is that Windows computers also have access to them.

As Google has made known, this application is being developed by the company exclusively. In other words, Google would not have closed any agreement with Microsoft or BlueStacks to jointly develop the application.

At the moment the application is in the testing phase, although Google showed a small preview of its operation during The Game Awards event. Nobody in the company has given more details about how the application will work or how it will be able to emulate the appearance and operation of Android apps in Windows. The only thing that has been anticipated is that the games will be run from the device itself and not streaming from the cloud.

Greg Hartrell, director of the area of video games at Google, explained that there will be a native Windows app that will be distributed by the company itself. This app will be compatible with the Windows 10 operating system and with previous versions. At the moment, Google is not considering developing a specific app that is compatible with the Windows 11 operating system.
