Automatic translation is coming to the free version of Zoom

An automatic transcription function has been launched by which Zoom includes subtitles in video conferencing, making it available to users of the free version of the app. So far it was only available to users of the paid versions (Zoom Meetings and Zoom Video Webinars), who will continue to enjoy it.

Currently, the subtitles that Zoom includes automatically appear in English only, but it has already been announced that it will soon be expanded to include more languages, reaching a total of 30 over the next year. There are even plans to add simultaneous voice translation to a dozen languages in the near future.

The automatic inclusion of subtitles makes it possible to remove the language barrier when there are participants of different nationalities in a video conference, webinar, seminar or virtual meeting, and they do not all know the language, although in this case, since it is just a transcription into English, They can be very useful for those who have difficulty with the interlocutor's tone or, due to various circumstances, cannot activate the voice or do not offer the optimum quality.

By having subtitles, thanks to automatic transcription, it will not be necessary to listen to the participants and instead it will be possible to follow the evolution of the video conference, even if it is in read-only mode. Of course, it is a great solution for those with hearing difficulties by providing the text instantly and practically at the same time as the interviewer is speaking, rather than having to wait for subsequent transcription services.

Available as another option on the toolbar, users of the multi-account version should only ask their system administrator to enable the auto-copy option in the settings menu.
